  1. pu Tili: pu lili wan I don’t like ‘pu’ for “bit of text”. I suspect the Islamicized Sonja wanted something for ‘sura’ and took over an old word she had forgotten what she meant to do with.
I keep reading ‘Tili’ as “Thyr” which may affect my readings more than a little bit.
lon li ike tawa jan mute. kulupu lawa li lukin e lon pi jan ali li lawa kepeken wawa ali. jan mute li pali mute [tan] tawa mani lili. taso jan lawa li pali lili li kama mani tan jan mute. ona lawa li jo e kulupu lawa e nasin sewi e mani mute. jan lawa li ike tawa jan mute. jan mute li jo e wawa ala.

lon ni li pana e jan Tili. Nice! jan Tili li jo e mama mije wan pi jan Loki. Had one father of Loki? Do you mean his father – or one of his fathers -- was Loki? Or that his father was the same as Loki’s? better ways to do either of these. tenpo pini mute la jan Loki li jan utala tan pi/tawa jan lawa. taso jan Loki li kama jo e noka pakala. I worry about this idiom, which is good English but not very sensible tan ni la ona li pana E mani tan ? tawa? ma moku li kepeken e ma ni tan ?tawa?mani. This is just unclear. Using ‘esun’ might help, but not muc. I get that he paid for a garden and used it to make money, but I would have used ‘tawa’ in both places in that case. ona li kama sona e meli Kikon li kama olin e jan Kikon. jan Loki en jan Kikon li kama wan. ona li pilin pona. taso tenpo unpa la jan Kikon li jo e jan Tili lon insa. On the first occasion? ona li pana e jan Tili li kama moli. tan ni la jan Loki li pilin ike mute li pilin wawa ala li wile moli. taso ona li moli ala tan jan Tili. jan Tili li lili mute li jo e wawa ala. here could definitely do without ‘jo e’

jan Loki li suli e jan Tili li pana E sona tawa ona. tenpo suno sike lili la jan Tili li pana e pona tawa ma moku pi jan Loki. tenpo la jan Loki li kama jo e sike suno mute li [jo e] wawa lili li pana e pona lili tawa ma moku. tan ni la jan Loki li lukin e pu what does ‘pu’ mean here? He read lots of books? mute li kama [e] sona mute.

tenpo suno [ijo] la jan Loki li lukin e pu pi sona kon. pu ni li pana e sona ni: sina ken wile la sina jo e kon ike anu kon pona kepeken toki sina. ken la kon ni li kute e jan. ken la kon ni li moli e jan. jan wawa taso li ken lawa e kon ni.

    1. Sorry this doesn't do italics so my comments are badly interspersed. I'll do better next time.
